About us
The history of The DiSilva Companies traces back to 1924, a time when our first roots were established in the trucking industry servicing the produce market and piers of Boston, Massachusetts. Having earned a distinct reputation for reliability and integrity, our trucking services were next expanded to the food and chain-supply store industry where we began to steadily build a business throughout the greater Boston area and along much of the East Coast.
Throughout the ensuing decades, the company grew by adding practices innovative for the time. We introduced the use of Owner/Operators to supplement our work force and implemented the use of pallets at our work sites which changed the way products were handled. We applied the shipping industry's "Stevedore" model of labor to our industry, resulting in the practice of labor leasing, now known as Professional Employment Organization. We then combined each of these individual services, along with management and human resource components, to create an integrated supply-chain solution. Today this is recognized as Dedicated Logistics.
The company continues to grow and flourish today.
